Gautam is a opening batsman who leads from the front.
Straightforwardness & aggressiveness is his forte. Gautam
captains Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with distinction . Under
Gambhir's captaincy, the Kolkata Knight Riders won their maiden IPL title in
2012 and again in 2014. Gautam has been also part of INDIAs 2007 ( T-20 )
& 2007 ( 50 over one day cricket) World cup winning squads. Gautam,s knock
in both these finals were exemplary.
Gautam is able to
extract the maximum out of his players by letting them play their natural
player as well as mentoring them with right kind of inputs . His brilliance is
demonstrated by the fact that Gautam captained the Indian team in six ODIs with India winning all six
matches. Also, Gautam is the only Indian batsman to have scored more than
300 runs in four consecutive Test series. In April 15, GAUTAM also demonstrated
his kindness by donating Rs. Four lakhs to Indian ice hockey team.
Gautam made his comeback
to Indian Test team in end of Sept 2016 due to his superb display in
Dilip trophy. Gambhir says on this comeback ; "Excitement of a
debutant ; certainty of experience , nervousness of a novice …am feeling
it all . Eden here I come loaded with ambitions .*
